Johnny Castle jerks off at Randy Blue (November 2005)

Gay porn does not work in isolation, but if affected by what goes on in society around it.  So, back in the late twentieth century, once it was no longer illegal to be gay, we had masses of glossy gay magazines lining the top shelves of newsagents.  If you wanted your porn on a screen then it was video tapes, to be bought in what were usually very seedy sex shops in back streets of the big cities.  With the advent of the Internet things changed hugely, with many of the printed magazines producing online versions.  The photosets produced were hugely popular, and every month there was a scramble to get the latest products from a good range of online magazines.  They have almost completely disappeared now, both in print and online, replaced by online clips and usually small sets of photographs derived from those clips.  Some of the big and better studios actually employ stills photographers to produce sets to go with their clips, and these are usually of high quality and often digitally manipulated.  Blogs like this one used to proliferate on the Internet with more and more appearing and competing with each other for a hugely enthusiastic audience who would read daily posts and leave comments which sometimes initiated long discussions.  There are still many blogs surviving out there, but times have changed, and the main medium for discussion and meeting up online is no longer the blog, but social media organised by some very big and wealthy branches of companies, such as Twitter, Facebook and G+.   So where is this all leading me, you may ask.  I'm particularly focusing on Johnny Castle, who was a big name in gay porn for about three years, from his first appearance in about 2005 until his last in around 2007.  He worked for many studios online and also releasing DVDs, but, sadly, none of his gay porn work was hardcore.  For that you would have to look at his equally extensive straight porn appearances.  The focus of this review is work Johnny produced for Randy Blue, and huge credit goes to that company for keeping open one of the biggest back catalogues of gay porn available on the Internet, including a huge array of photosets going right back to their start, the collection in itself providing a valuable insight into the gay porn industry and how it has changed over the years, and also documenting the growth and refinement of the company, Randy Blue, itself.  Amongst the early pic sets they have available are some gems, but there's also a good deal which is less appealing, both from the artistic photographic point of view, and, indeed, the models they had in those early days, where it really looks as if some of the guys just walked in off the street to earn a few bucks.  Johnny, of course, did not fall into that category by a long way, and below I have posted my own screencaps of a jerk-off clip he made for Randy Blue, as well as extracts from the associated pic set which you can look at for free at Randy Blue (there are 92 pics in the full set).   Randy Blue said of this man at the time, "I just cannot get enough of Johnny. His shoot is one of my favourites by far. How can you not love that body. In my book its just pretty damn perfect. Big but not too big. Muscle but not too much. He has a little hair and a hot happy trail."  Johnny was very active making photosets and jerk-off videos for many different companies; and, of course, there was much straight porn going on as well!!  So next up in my review below comes a really good leather shoot, also available at Randy Blue.  My only problem with this otherwise good leather set is that the chaps are on back-to-front, with the laceup waist adjustment in the front instead of the back!!!  As Johnny is straight, perhaps we shouldn't be too surprised at this minor error.  And talking of staright, we then move on to some pics ostensibly for the straight market, a small selection of what was published in Playgirl, a magazine probably read by more gay men than straight women!!
